Who it’s for

The Big Thinking Box is designed for learners of all ages. The core experience remains the same, but the focus and outcomes can shift to meet the developmental level of each group. Below is a breakdown of how the box supports Elementary, Middle, and High School students.

Elementary School

(Grades K–5)

Focus: Curiosity and Courage

Elementary students dive into the world of William the Knight and discover how imagination and bravery fuel learning. At this level, the experience emphasizes curiosity, creativity, and teamwork. Students explore big ideas through hands-on play, storytelling, and guided reflection. The goal is to spark a love of discovery while building early confidence in asking questions and trying new things.

Students can:

  • Explore the 3 Cs (Curiosity, Courage, and Critical Thinking) through storytelling and teamwork.

  • Practice speaking up, sharing ideas, and making simple observations.

  • Learn that mistakes are part of learning and innovation.

Middle School

(Grades 6–8)

High School

(Grades 9–12)

Focus: Critical Thinking and Collaboration

In middle school, The Big Thinking Box challenges students to think more deeply about problems and work strategically as a team. The story becomes a tool for connecting real-world science, engineering, and leadership concepts. Students analyze, plan, and experiment, learning how to manage ambiguity and turn ideas into action.

Students can:

  • Strengthen collaboration skills through group problem-solving.

  • Practice evidence-based reasoning and design thinking.

  • Build resilience by testing, iterating, and improving their ideas.

Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning and connect the Brave Thinking mindset to real-world challenges. They explore how scientific thinking, creativity, and courage drive progress in all fields, from STEM to social impact.

Students can:

  • Lead teams through problem solving and experimentation.

  • Apply the 3 Cs to leadership, innovation, and thinking critically.

  • Reflect on how curiosity and courage influence personal growth and career paths.

    STEM authenticated

The Big Thinking Box turns STEM learning into an imaginative, story-led adventure. Each quest invites students to build, explore, and test ideas while growing their creativity, persistence, and problem-solving skills. Rather than memorizing facts, kids learn by doing. They think like scientists, ask great questions, and make real-world connections between their discoveries and everyday life.

    NGSS Aligned

The Big Thinking Box is thoughtfully designed around the Next Generation Science Standards. Students take on challenges that mirror the work of scientists and engineers as they ask questions, plan investigations, analyze what they find, and share their results. The experience helps them practice evidence-based reasoning and iterative thinking while giving teachers a simple, meaningful way to meet key NGSS goals through story-based learning.
